a new look over at Dancing Lessons, and while you're there, check out some well written fiction that has caused me to rethink my opinion of fanfic. there are some talented writers over there.

management is handing out boxes to select employees, that type of box that mean 'pack you personal belongings, we'll escort you out, and have a nice day!' another round of layoffs here. our department, which has already lost 75% of its personnel, has just lost another. more may follow, and there's no sign of ice cream anywhere. i blame the ghost of Donald Pleasence.

ack. someone around here doesn't know how to make coffee. nasty stuff. in other news... our generic sugar substitute packets have been replaced with another generic sugar substitute.
it's a slow day today. i'm taking the afternoon off, so i don't think i'm going to do much today.

prove your patriotism. register as an American Patriot!
this day is creeping by at an incredibly slow pace. it feels like someone has added in an extra 4 or 5 hours to the morning. eleven o'clock... half past eleven...eleven-and-a-half o'clock... half past eleven-and-a-half... eleven-and-nine-hundred-eighty-three-thousandths o'clock... ick. we're never gonna reach 4pm today, are we?
a Buffy RPG is coming!
i wonder how they'll work around that whole "one girl in all the world" thing. maybe you'll have to thrown down with your troupe-mates and stake one of them for the privelage of playing the Chosen One.

my tape of "Once More, With Feeling" is beginning to wear out. i meant to make a copy of it the same week the episode aired but never got around to it, so now, i'm getting some warping and distortion. that is a Very Bad Thing. terrence will cry when he is no longer able to watch it (though roomie!Mikey will likely cheer).

last night's strange dream:
the boyfriend and i, along with 6 or 8 people that we seemed to know, went to the supermarket for supplies. to our suprise, Tony Head was there singing. after he finished, i approached him and said, "Wow, you're good." he said, dismissively, "I know." i replied, "No, i'm being sincere." he looked at me, rather annoyed, and said "So was I." then he walked away to buy fruit punch.

TNN showed "All Good Things" last night. i hadn't seen the series finale of ST:TNG since it originally aired in 1994. i'd forgotten what a good finale it was.

whoever says that contacting your Senators won't get anything accomplished, i'm here to tell you that you are wrong!
ok, so all i did was point out to Sen. Nickles' people that the only member of the Oklahoma Congressional delagation not to be linked on his website also happened to be the only Democrat in the OK delegation, and that it looked like it was a conspiracy, and that i was fed up with his stupid little partisan games, and that he just needed to do his job because some of us don't care about his party affiliation. but they fixed it. yay for interactive representative democracy!
when Congress reconvenes next year, i think i'll make use of this "in" i have with the Senator and take issue with deficit spending and environmental degradation, since he's listening to me now. [and i'll keep an eye out for the FBI knocking on my door]

yay! my best mate Brian is coming from St Louis to visit for BahHumbug Day! (and he'll have gifts!)
Buffy needs to plan for the future. "And working for free at a highly-dangerous job is not how you plan for the future," he says. "The Watchers should give her disability, a retirement plan and probably some kind of stock options. If you can't work a deal with the Watchers, then she'd have to work a deal with the community, I'd say..."
Paul Peterson, a certified public accountant in Walnut Creek, Calif., e-mails that Buffy's main problem is that "she has half of Sunnydale living in her house rent-free, and she is destined to work as an uncompensated superhero."
Actually, now that Willow and Tara have broken up, only Willow is living in the house rent-free, and she took care of Dawn while Buffy was dead for four months. Maybe that's why Buffy has been so tolerant of the magic-addicted Willow.
Peterson suggests that Buffy charge rent anyway.
financial planning for the Slayer.

tonight wraps up FX's first runthrough of Buffy in syndication with "Tough Love" and "Spiral", two episodes i like a whole lot. bunches, even. it looks like FX isn't running "The Weight of the World" after all (it did briefly appear on the FX schedule, but now it's gone), which means we won't be seeing the last two episodes of season 5 until UPN decides to rerun them. that's ok by me. i already have "The Gift" from last year. that'll leave only "Buffy vs. Dracula" and "The Weight of the World" that i don't have, and BvD airs on Christmas. yay!
i just expanded my repertoire of really bad jokes that nonetheless crack me up more than they should.
after giving it some more thought, i'm now convinced that Carol would be able to take me. she's a tough old bird.
i was nearly in a car accident yesterday with Carol Channing. i'm not certain if she was the Carol Channing or a man dressed as Carol, but the resemblance was striking. unfortunately, she really pissed me off by a) being in the wrong lane of a two lane street where she was trying to make a left turn through rush hour traffic. b) trying to gun her way through traffic and across the street, nearly hitting me, then giving me the finger like i was doing something more than waiting for her to get the hell out of the way. true to form, i made an audible list of every profane word i could think of, pointing at her, shouting, "I'm gonna kick your ass, Channing!".
so, Carol, next time you're on Hollywood Squares, you better watch out. i'll be there in the studio audience, waiting. Martin Mull and Whoopi won't be able to save you.

five reasons i didn't go to work today:
*it's a beautiful day.
*i didn't get any sleep.
*Clay was here, and i had to get up waaay too early to take him to the bus station.
*hangover.
*i have a few days of unused vacation that i should use by the end of the year.

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: "Crush" and "I Was Made To Love You"
then, whether a happy happenstance or good planning, the UPN Buffy rerun tonight is "The Body", which is, in fact, the episode that's supposed to come after "I Was Made To Love You". for those of us trying to get them in the right order, this is happy news. yay!
"The Body", if you haven't seen it, is very sad. have a box of Puffs handy!

out of the blue, i just received a call from Clay, my first boyfriend. he's been living in smoggy California for a long while now. we kept up through email for a bit, then suddenly there was nothing more from him. today, he is in Tulsa. yay! so, after work, i'm gonna meet up with him, and take him home to meet my current boyfriend and our roommate, who is also an ex-boyfriend.
thinking about how many of my friends are also my exes, i think i need to widen my circle of friends so that it includes non-exboyfriends. good thing i have Jean around.

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: "Checkpoint" and "Bloodties"
movies watched (for the first time) over the weekend: Moulin Rouge and All Over The Guy.
i liked both (though during All Over The Guy, i kept thinking about a certain someone who really doesn't like Adam Goldberg and wondering 'Do I keep missing whatever it is that's so bad about him?'), but during Moulin Rouge, there were several places where the voices weren't quite synchronized, and throughout the movie, either the music overwhelmed the voices or the chorus of voices would be unintelligible. so i'm wondering now, was that just the DVD or was it that way on the bigscreen too?

i've been having trouble posting all weekend. i don't know if it was a problem with Blogger or if it was something on my end at home, but i had a nice long rant written about Governor Keating, who called Tulsa 'dumb' because his wife didn't win the Republican primary for the District 1 Congressional race (here's the article). off course, it was a primary race, so he must have meant that District 1 Republicans were dumb, but being the partisan lapdogs that they are, the city and county GOP leadership have been making excuses for him ("he's just emotional"). this is the same governor who said that the best way to deal with the Oklahoma Education Association was "homicide."
as for his wife, Cathy, she didn't actually lose the primary. with no majority winner, she with 30% of the vote, and John Sullivan with 45%, were to have a runoff next month. Cathy announced on Friday that she was dropping out. instead of being a loser, she's a quitter.
so long, Cathy. it looks like Frank will have to whore you out another way to get to DC.

bloody hell. the company is having a big holiday festivity thing in the Tulsa office tomorrow. they're gonna serve lunch (BBQ, the traditional Christmas feast), have a middle school choir sing just a few yards from my cubicle (i'm glad i have headphones), carolers wandering around singing crappy christmas songs (again, yay for headphones), and a karaoke contest in the afternoon (because that's what the Trio of Magi did while standing at the manger) the only bright point is there will be an email trivia contest (i have a tendency to win those. i'll participate in anything that awards the winner a day off).
yes, i'm all for humbuggery. i don't like christmas. some say it brings out the best in people, but seven years in retail showed me that it brings out the worst. people suddenly forget what manners are and they all get short-tempered and violent (shoving matches over Tickle Me Elmos and fist fights over parking spaces come to mind). plus, they get stupid and cause car accidents. holiday cheer? fuck that. i'm no grinch. i'm not trying to steal anyone's holiday. go ahead and have it. just leave me out of it (unless you're buying me a gift, then please, please include me! i'm not ashamed to admit that i'd only get into it for the materialism).

we saw Scary Movie 2 last night. it's just as dumb and as tasteless as the first one, which is to say that we enjoyed it. stupid movies are fun, plus, after a few shots of Rico, they're damned funny. the DVD also comes with plenty of extras, unlike that stupid Angel Eyes movie (lots of deleted or alternate scenes and such). i may add this one to my collection for the Mindless Humor Film Festivals i like to have every so often (not strangely, most of them are Wayans brothers' movies, including the classic I'm Gonna Git You Sucka).

tonight's syndiBuffy double feature, "Out of My Mind" and "No Place Like Home"
from Sci Fi Wire:
the headline alone cracks me up. i'm simple, i know. Head To Play Who --- it's been announced that "Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles on UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will voice Doctor Who in three segments of the BBC's radio series, coming in February." we actually talked about a few months ago, but i think it was still in the rumor stage then.
Whedon Confirms Iron Man --- "wow," you think, "Joss is directing Iron Man!" uh, no. the headline's misleading. Joss has "confirmed for Cinescape Online rumors that he's under consideration to make his feature-film directing debut with the movie version of Marvel Comics' Iron Man series." he adds "I'll probably end up doing another series before I do a feature... I'm looking to do a hard science fiction show. I am looking to do some spaceship action. Something very different from what's gone before, but ultimately it will exactly be the same as everything I do--women posing with fisticuffs." chicks kicking ass rock!
Frank Miller says he's still developing Batman: Year One with Aronofsky.
and Pfeiffer Advises Judd's Catwoman "make sure they give you a place to go to the bathroom, a little something. They don't think about that." Judd responded that she felt confident that she, "unlike Michelle, could just hold it for the entire length of the shoot." Pfeiffer asked, "What? You think you're a tougher Catwoman than I am?" to which Judd replied, "Honey, it ain't about toughness. It's about the fact that you ain't firm in all the right places anymore. You couldn't get into the suit with a shoehorn and a jumbo sized tube of KY." Pfeiffer signalled her disagreement with a quick (but visibly slowing) roundhouse to Judd's head.

i mentioned Everquest earlier. i've been playing it a lot lately too. i've got an Iksar necromancer. the iksar are a reptilian-humanoid race. last night, i had several nightmares about them. in the dreams, some reached from beneath my bed and grabbed at my arms and legs. in other dreams, i could see one standing in my closet, watching me sleep, or see in a mirror the reflection of one creeping about my dining room. in the game, the creatures aren't all that scary looking, but when you wake up thinking there are a couple of them hiding under your bed, it's terrifying.
one of my roommates has been naughtily downloading things and has infected my computer with a virus. doesn't make terrence a happy camper. last week, while one of them was online, i looked over in time to see him accepting one of those Verisign Certificates. 'what was that?' i asked. 'i don't know,' he answers. 'it says i have to have it to see the web page.' 'could you stick to the porn sites that you can see without downloading anything?'
feh.
on Saturday, i started up IE to see that someone had installed Yahoo! Companion on the browser. i already have the Google toolbar, so the Yahoo! only duplicated the functions. also, i now have Yahoo! Messager installed without my knowledge, and keep finding "Sign Up for AOL Now!" shortcuts on my desktop, neither of which i want (and don't those AOL things appear once you've installed something that's sold its little electronic soul to the evil empire?).
when i first decided to get internet access at home again, i asked my roommates about what they'd be using it for (probing to see if i'd need to worry). 'I just want to be able to check my email!' says one. 'I just want to play Everquest!' says the other. and i believed them. bah! now i have to do like i did whenever my mom wanted to use my computer: no downloading anything. period. i don't care if it says it's a photo of cute fluffy kittens. don't do it. if you're even thinking about violating that rule, you'd damned well better ask me to take a look first. and don't click OK for anything without asking me about it first.
plus, i'll be buying some software to make sure they can't do crap with the computer, except check their email and play Everquest.

my current #1 thing that shouldn't exist but does: line dancing to House of Pain.
formula for a really kick ass movie: kung fu-using samurai vampire dinosaurs from outer space.
old news for some of us, but i thought it worth reposting.
"Key episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer--including the critically acclaimed "The Body" and the Emmy-nominated "Hush"--have been withheld from syndication to give UPN a chance to air them first, the Zap2it Web site reported. UPN worked with Buffy executive producers Joss Whedon and Marti Noxon on picking which episodes to air during the show's brief three-week hiatus in December. "Hush" will air Dec. 11 at 8 p.m., followed by "The Body" on Dec. 18 and "Buffy vs. Dracula" on Dec. 25. New episodes will continue airing on New Year's Day."
"Buffy vs. Dracula" is most definitely a Christmas episode. more old news that is definitely worth reposting (because i'm getting hits from people looking for this info).
"Fox Home Entertainment announced the release of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season-one DVD set on Jan. 15, 2002. The set will include all 12 episodes of the fantasy series, which is currently in its sixth season.
The DVD will feature commentary by series creator Joss Whedon, interviews with Whedon and co-star David Boreanaz (Angel), the pilot script, the original trailer, DVD-ROM links, images and biographies, Fox announced. The set will carry a suggested retail price of $39.98 in the United States."

months ago, i read an article that asked whether or not Angel Eyes was a supernatural thriller. the answer from the director was "The supernatural aspect of it is love. Love is supernatural." (actually, that's just stupid. it's natural. someone send Louis Mandoki an American Heritage please).
anyway, i saw it last night (VSG wanted to see it). i can answer that question now. it is neither supernatural, nor a thriller. this is another of those 'Is it over yet?' movies. BORING! it takes all of 5 minutes to figure it all out. it made me wish i'd had a fifth of anything to pass the time with.
i gave this movie an honest chance. i think Jennifer Lopez is a cardboard actress. though her performance in this was much better than anything else i've seen her in, i still couldn't like her. she evoked no pathos. i couldn't care about her or any other character. there was no chemistry between the two leads, and the backstory was a hokey attempt to get the audience to say 'oh, such pain! and she fixed it for him!' blech. and what was the crap about her and her father? who cares!
btw, the DVD extras suck. nothing worth noting there. geez, i'd rather sit through a Hugh Grant film marathon than see Angel Eyes again.
also saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch. much better! effectively washed the foul Jennifer-Lopez-film taste out of my mouth.

my number one reason for hating co-workers on a Monday morning:
rather than make a fresh pot of coffee when they've taken the last cup of the current pot, they'll turn the coffee maker off. it takes less than 30 seconds to start a pot, and the bastards are too lazy to do it.

"New Moon Rising" was another really good episode. going into it, i knew nothing about it except 'Oz comes back'. it's not as talked about as some of the other fourth season episodes, which is unfortunate. a good story (yay, Marti!) and top-notch acting (yay Alyson!).

Mefi discussion: "Joss Whedon, only a few weeks ago, brought audiences what was arguably the best hour in television history with the musical episode. Then, last week, he brought us a shameful don't-do-drugs piece of drivel. Has the best-written show on television finally gone bad, along with Willow?"
quote from the discussion: "I stopped watching Buffy years ago when Oz left the show. By then the writing had gotten lower than the quality of the original movie that it's based on."
please someone help me. i think the vein in my forehead is about to burst at some of the things being said, and its feels necessary to smash things.

Browsing the Google directory:
Texas T's Homepage. About Forest fires and Diesel pickups!
J.T. - Pretty Fly for a White Guy and probably pretty fly for an accountant too.
Somebody Broke The Dictionary -- only because the definitions for 'glibido' and 'lymph' cracked me up.
West Coast Playboys '99.
Who's the guy in the hat?
Oz's Hippy Hoppy Happy Page.

Why I don't like Canadians!!!: All Canadians have something wired wrong in their head. The only cool Canadian is Tom Green.
i think this guy has something wired wrong in his head. Tom Green? not even with Drew on his arm as he siphons off some of her likability does he approach anything remotely cool.
the rest of his explanation is really lame too. at least i have real reasons for not liking Canadians (they're all Eeevil and work in tandem with the Girl Scouts in a plot to take over the world).
check out some of his other rants. come on! there are better things to bitch about! like that crappy 7th Heaven.

E! Online is doing another poll, this one a "Best of 2001." i say, of course, go vote for Buffy in every catagory possible, even if it's Best Performance By A Former Golden Girl.
for the catagory Top "Did You See That?" Tube Moment, i didn't see any of them, but i'm sure i didn't miss out on much. also, i haven't seen any of the nominees in their Scariest Movie catagory. how much do i suck? for Most Spectacular Breakup, my responses as i read the last three nominees were "They did?", "I thought he was gay," and "Who?"

tonight's syndiBuffy double feature: "Superstar" (no, Molly Shannon's not in it) and "Where The Wild Things Are"
email from my friend at the Department of Environmental Quality: I have a complaint on my desk against a man named Shatwell. I thought you'd get a kick out of that. Especially since it concerns surfacing sewage.
how right he was!
how right he was!
watching "Afterlife" again last night, i still got all choked up at the look on Spike's face as he realized that Buffy was somehow alive, and at the "Hundred forty-seven days yesterday" response. one speaks to the actor's abilities, the other to the writer's.
comments about last night's syndiBuffies: it was really good to see Faith again. whenever Buffy and Faith throw down, it's a guaranteed kick-ass fight. i've decided, without doubt, that the Faith/Buffy battles are the best in the series, and probably on television as a whole.
as for "Who Are You?", all i can say is "WOW!" it's taken a firm position in my list of the top ten episodes of Buffy.

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: "This Year's Girl" and "Who Are You?"
somehow, a rumor has started here at work. it says that i'm taking organic chemistry this semester. people are asking me for help with their organic chemistry. problem is, i'm not taking it, i've never taken it, and, indeed, i'm not even enrolled at university this semester (nor have i been enrolled anywhere for several years). people gossip about the strangest things.
i'm definitely in a lame joke mood today over at Mefi. those poor people.
the International Astonomical Union's FAQ on the naming of stars. who knew astronomers had a sense of humor?
ack! i know i mentioned that Psycho Beach Party will be playing on the 8th, but it also played sometime around one this morning (way past my bedtime, which is why i'll be watching it this weekend). my roommate woke me and said "Hey, Xander's in this movie that's on right now," so i got up to watch a bit, and i have to say, it's going to be grrrreat! i don't mean great in the 'This makes you think' kind of way, but great in the same way that i enjoy Dude, Where's My Car? (minus the Seann Scott factor).
i don't think i've ever blogged this before, but now that Jean has moved it, it's a good time to link to Joker's Realm. if you have any interest in Batman's archnemesis, take a look.

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: "The I in Team" and "Goodbye Iowa"
from the mailbag: "What do you mean by torpedoed battleship and shot down fighter planes? Are you saying that Pearl Harbor bombed?
for those who didn't quite get it, 'big ass torpedoed battleship' and 'squadron of downed fighter planes' are both things that go down, which means they can be said to suck, much the way this movie does.
You should check your facts before you write something like that. It was one of the best movies of all time.
*ahem* but, box office gross is not necessarily a reflection of a film's quality. it is my opinion that Pearl Harbor sucked, but don't take my word for it.
thanks for writing! here at the last of the great tolkhans, we enjoy and appreciate your email and pledge to respond to each one personally (though we make no promises of proper grammar or spelling! heck, we don't even promise to make sense!) .

yay! Showtime will be showing Psycho Beach Party on the 8th! (careful with that link. there's lots of loud music)
i saw Pearl Harbor for the first time last weekend. 183 minutes of a patriotic, crowd pleasing masturbatory session. who needs that claptrap? and the love story? please. are all future 'historical' films going to be love stories using as a backdrop the event their supposed to be about (although it was kind of fun to quote Titanic as the warships sank: 'Jack! Come back! I'll never let go! I'm flying!' and whispering "Give me what I want and I'll go away," everytime Admiral Kimmel [a.k.a. Andre Lenoge] was onscreen). the movie tries to tug the heartstrings, but just ends up making a clumsy grab that doesn't actually work. the best thing about the whole experience was the History Channel program on the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor shown after the credits to the movie finished.
i give this film a big ass torpedoed battleship for the cheesy love story (blech. get over it Ben. she's a whore)(no, wait, get over yourself, you cocky bastard) and a squadron of downed fighter planes for everything outside the actual PH attack scene, which is the only reason those fighter planes got off the ground in the first place. otherwise, this movie would have died in the hanger.

some news about the first volume of the Batman: the Animated Series DVDs (only the first five eps. bummer).

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature, "Wild At Heart," which is the very first Buffy episode i ever saw, though i didn't realize what it was at the time. i only stopped to watch because of Seth Green (grrr!) the Werewolf (grrr! bark!).
the second ep tonight is "The Initiative". muscly millitary commandos and Spike. oh yeah!
also tonight, on UPN is Enterprise.

it's time to clean up my Favorites List. i can't find anything, though everything's sorted into folders. current count: 55 blogs (i only read about 20 daily), 26 Buffy sites, 21 news sources, 18 politic related sites, episode guides to 11 television programs, 9 dictionaries, 8 law related websites, 8 state and federal agencies, 6 gaming sites, 5 map/atlas sites, 4 cartoon related sites, 2 periodic tables of elements, and 51 assorted "junk links" (individual news stories, blog posts, dead and unidentifiable links, and this cow thing)? there are no porn links (those are all on my computer at home). i am a packrat. usually, i enjoy clutter, but there comes a time when it becomes too much for me.
so, goodbye to The Times (London, India, Hindustan, and Canberra).
so long, Buffy's Domain of Delight, CHUD, and Socio-Political Themes in The Smurfs.
farewell, Chad Slacker diaries, Ethnologue, History of the Federal Judiciary, FBI, White House, and Oklahoma Department of Environmental Qualilty.
adios, oneballjay (whoever you are).

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: the fourth season Hallowe'en episode "Fear, Itself" and "Beer Bad"
a note: if'n your wanting to discuss Buffy with me, get over your B/A 'shipperness, and quit talking about how the Spike/Buffy thing has ruined everything and that it'll take a lot to save this season. i don't want to hear it and i won't talk to you for the rest of the afternoon if you don't.
"hey, what's that?"
"it is, i believe, a dead horse."

ack. during it's 'Publishing Unavailable" Phase this morning, Blogger must have eaten my first two posts of the day. that bites.
Buffy's Swearing Keyboard. bizarre little wtf that's interesting at all for only 27 keystrokes.

and "The Harsh Light of Day" investigates the effect of natural lighting on the skin.

also, i'd like to say that i fucking hate people who have their cell phone set to play 'Jingle Bells' instead of having a nice, normal, annoying ring.
i just had a sudden flashback to that episode of 7th Heaven that i hate so much, the one with the tear streaking down Dad's face at the end, the one that pisses me off so much that i slip into this autonomic response of shaking my fists in the air and shouting 'i fucking hate that show!!'
i don't know why i thought of that episode now, but it's really pissed me off again. fucking crappy programming. i'm waiting for the episode where one of kids snaps (and it will happen eventually. they all can't survive with that family for too long) and takes out the family with a shot gun, or a Lizie Borden style axing, or just fucking strangles them one by one as they sleep.
i really hate that show.

the Guardian UK article about Buffy that Max linked to started out really well, goes through a weak vampires-as-sex section, then builds back up to a Who's Who that expends more copy talking about Giles than Buffy, praises English vampires for being better dressers than American vamps, makes a few errors and omissions (Faith's not dead, Joyce is; Anya was a demon, not a goddess), says Giles gives the UK "a reputation for independent thought and irreverent behaviour" (irreverent behavior? Giles?) and lists Ted, but not Oz or Jenny or Jonathan or any of the many other characters who, unlike Ted, have appeared in more than one episode (what? is John Ritter the same thing to the British that Jerry Lewis is to the French?). also, i could have done without the rug-munching line.
kiss the kitty.

"LA BOUCHE SINGER DIES: Former La Bouche singer Melanie Thornton, 34, was among those who perished in that Swiss plane crash on Saturday near Zurich. Of the 33 passengers on board the Crossair jet, only nine survived. Thornton was on tour promoting her solo album, eerily titled Ready to Fly. "
my first thought was "a plane crashed?" news coverage around here really sucks.

had a strange dream last night in which Maggie Walsh and the alien chick from Species invaded my nephew's birthday party. they were capturing people to use as food for the Visitors. luckily, i was very skilled in the magickal arts, which i only used to leap to the top of a tree so i could hurl fruit at the invaders. it wasn't a very effective defense.

also from Slayage.com, vote for Joss Whedon as EW's Entertainer of the Year. no, you're not allowed to vote for anyone else, and yes, please vote, because L. Ron Hubbard is listed as number 8 and he shouldn't be anywhere on the list. especially because he's dead.
OH MY FUCKING GOD!! MadTV had a skit with Bunny (Swan) the Vampire Slayer! with Michelle Trachtenberg!

so, because of this accursed holiday (shoulda let the Pilgrims starve!), there will be no syndiBuffy. sad, i know, but tomorrow, instead of watching another boring football game, you can watch the 14 hour Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon on FX! yay!
yip! Dark Horizons says "The classic episodes [of Buffy the Vampire Slayer] "Hush" and "The Body" will air December 11th and 18th on UPN."
yesterday, i was bitching to Jean about how "Hush" and three other episodes were missing from FX's syndicated run, and she'd told me UPN would be showing them during reruns months, so yay for her!

then, on UPN, tonight's new Buffy is "Smashed."

response to the question (concerning last night's Angel) "what about that hunter-guy?"
Holtz tracked Angel down, captured him, wanted to use him as bait to lure Darla, was saying things along the lines of "I'm gonna kill you so much!" but Lilah showed up, said, "Kill him. Like I care.'" Hoyt said, "Angelus has changed... somehow" and Lilah said "Yeah, yeah, gypsy curse, got a soul, eternal torment and penance for his evils, yadda yadda, hurry up and kill him." Hoyt was like "Whoa! Dude's got a soul?" but he didn't have a chance to do anything cuz Angel made a pretty cool escape.

just because i haven't said it this week:
kiss the kitty.

so, FX has posted their schedule for Buffy for the rest of this week, including the 14 hour marathon on Thursday, the schedule for the remainder of November and for the month of December. it looks as though FX will be changing their schedule again, adding a morning showing of the syndiBuffy double feature.
it also looks that they'll reach "Weight of the World", the episode immediately preceding the season 5 finale, a few days before Christmas, but there are some glaring omissions. no "Hush," no "Buffy vs. Dracula," no "The Body" and no "The Gift." i think that's going to make me grouchy.

this can't be good:
i'm in the mood to sing today. not in a "I'm Happy and I Want To Twirl On the Mountaintops" kind of way, just a "I Don't Feel Like Being Quiet Today" way.
in other news, for some reason, last night's Angel gave me nightmares. the episode, "Lullaby," wasn't scary, but i dreamed of demons moving about my apartment all night long while i, Wesley, Cordy, Fred and Gunn all hung out on my bed. we were safe as long as we stayed on the bed and didn't hang our feet off for the demons to grab or anything.

today on the syndiBuffy double feature, "Earshot" and "Choices"
yay for word games! last Monday, my boss decided to have a contest to see who could find the greatest number of words hidden within the word "Veterans." thanks to Inge's Anagram Generator, our group won. we get to go home early today. yay!
happy birthday, Oklahoma! in celebration, here's a variety of links:
the Travel OK Infocenter with touristy-type information, or for those who intend never to visit this great state, few short facts (for those with short attention spans), or maybe you'd rather look at a pretty, colorful
shaded relief map or satellite image.
Betty's and Jim's Cool Data Page with buttloads of links on all sorts of topics, like Agriculture, Drugs, Education, Media, Politics, the State Budget and Weather, all focused around the Oklahoma City area because OKC is the only city in Oklahoma. really.
and here's a site that's not pretty and can't be considered exhaustive by any standard, but it does say "Oklahoma, during prehistoric times, as evidenced by the fossil record, was part of the great sea that covered it, Kansas, and Texas. Thankfully, God saw fit to uplift the land. It was a close vote but He also lifted up Texas too." anyone who recognizes Texas for the shite hole it is deserves a link on my blog.
not to give anyone the impression that i think Oklahoma is all hugs and puppies, i point out a letter concerning the "Joklahoma Legislatures" (Watts and Inhofe, specifically). and, just because i enjoy disliking the corrupt asshole so much, here's The Religious Freedom Coalition's "Two Faces of J.C. Watts Page"

i have to say, i like the little pop up "In Season X, Buffy [did this]" promo thing at Buffy.com
go vote for the musical soundtrack to be released on CD, and while you're there, time's almost up to register for a chance to win a limited edition poster (eh, it's just more spam).

sometimes people just totally miss the point. (it's an Angel link).
because i already had last night's syndiBuffies on video, VSG and i watched movies all night. first up, A Knight's Tale. it spent a large portion of it's time trying to make you care. still, i couldn't. and what a pansy boy! a woman treats him the way Jocelyn does and he just takes it? co-dependent much, buddy? she isn't worth it. if she truly loved you, she wouldn't ask you to do something you don't want to do (more ABC After School Special stuff). my rating: i'd need a liter of rum to watch it again.
second: Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. this one left me cold. nothing exciting, nothing 'Oh cool!' about it, the story caused much confusion and i'd get pissed everytime someone called them monkeys instead of apes (including my roommates). didn't even get a half-bare Mark Wahlberg to make it better. i definitely prefer the original. Cornelius could kick Ari's ass easily, though Insane Chimp Possee Thade was frightening. plus, how can you not have Dr. Zaius?
also, the DVD extras sucked. yeah, there was all that behind-the-scenes stuff, and the interface was actually kind of cool, but the extended scenes weren't very interesting and talks with the stunt people alternated between nifty stuff and 'man, you think too much of yourself'. my ratings: film- though i give it no thumbs in either direction, i'd definitely choose this movie over "Seventh Heaven" or the "Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion!". DVD extras: not worth the cost of the extra disc.
third movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas. i liked the costuming, the hair, and the sets. i was even able to tolerate Jim Carrey for most of it, but it ran too long. it felt like things were added in just to pad the film's running time. it's not a good thing to wonder for the third time "Is it almost over yet?" and Whos are annoying! how can anyone be that chipper all the time? to hell with the Whos!
DVD extras: children's games and sing-alongs. bleh. my ratings: film- it's Jim Carrey. i can't stand him usually. he's tolerable in this, so i'll rate this a "Buy it to occupy the nephews when they come to visit." DVD extras- i'd need illegal street drugs to keep me awake. boring. all digits down.
enjoy "Seventh Heaven meets the Taliban."

so tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature, we have "Bad Girls" (which i believe is the name of a popular webcam site) and "Consequences". taken together, those titles sound like something from the ABC After School Special library.
it's a good thing i have episode guides from two different sources. the FX guide is full of errors. it caused great confusion to see it list "Homecoming" tonight.
tomorrow, i'm hoping to feel less disease-ridden and more chatty.
good night everybody!

good night everybody!
after watching "Helpless" last night on syndiBuffy, i have to say that i can't stand to see Buffy screaming and running like a girl when the vamp jumped her.
my employer offered it's minions free flu vaccinations (actually, it only offered them to one-third of us. the others will just have to take their chances). this was my first flu shot. it made my head hurt and caused me to feel nauseated. the nurse who administered the injection said it's nothing to worry about, but managed to take up half an hour of my time checking my pulse, my breathing, asking questions about my health, reminding me how pale i was looking, and a bunch of other things that make me a little nervous about this vaccine. i think that this will be my last flu shot. i'd rather suffer the flu.
did anyone else laugh so hard at the Scoobies-opening-the-door-and-screaming scene last night that, after the ep was over, you had to rewind because you laughed all the way through the rest of the scene and missed out on what happened? anyone else rewind and watch the screams a dozen times like me? god, that was funny.

and later, Darla continues her maternal visit to Big n' Broody Angel, which, i'm sure, will be great fun for everyone on Angel!

yeah, i like saying "kissing the kitty." i prefer that imagry to what was actually .. uh... fictionally .. going on.
the referral logs made me laugh way too hard today: "willow and tara what where they doing when tara was singing."
i think most people already have an idea, but if you don't know, you're probably too young to be asking that question. i can imagine, though, someone coming to my blog,, trying to get that question answered, and leaving wondering what i meant by "kissing the kitty."

next in the "Things That Keep Me Up At Night" series: what happened to Joyce's gallery? i thought she owned it, but it hasn't been mentioned since her death. does that mean she was just an employee? i must have missed that part somewhere.

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: the Spikelicious "Lover's Walk" and the debut of our favorite Vengeance Demon in "The Wish".
scarcely recalled memory.... only a snippet, and fuzzy at that... focused on one thing, everything around it is there but i can't see it. someone help me out here.
ninjas are coming, right? a television program that i watch is having ninjas on it soon, right? oooh! is it Angel? something to do with Darla's baby perhaps? ack! that's the only show i can think of that would have them (though i can't remember the teaser for next week's Enterprise, so i guess there could be Space Ninjas coming).

TVGuide likes to do their silly little Collectible Cover thing. people must buy up multiple copies, or there wouldn't be anymore multicover weeks, right? i think it's time i cashed in on this and made a little money myself, so i'm offering a tolkhan exclusive third Michael Jackson cover. send me $$ and it's yours! quantities are limited! don't miss out!
i'm getting a lot of hits looking for the FX X-Ballot Marathon. if you've come for that, i suggest the FX website. makes more sense, don't you think?

tonight is also the series premiere of The Tick. watch it.

also from Sci Fi Wire (and i'm reposting the whole thing because i think it's worth more than just a link):
The special musical episode of UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer rated well in its Nov. 6 airing, the network reported. The all-singing, all-dancing episode, "Once More With Feeling," ranked No. 3 among persons 12-34, adults 18-34, teens and female teens, UPN reported.
The Buffy episode also ranked No. 2 in its 8-9 p.m. timeslot among males 12-34, men 18-34 and male teens, beating The WB's Gilmore Girls, ABC's Spin City, CBS' Jag and NBC's Three Sisters, UPN reported.

a June 2001 Q&A with ASH and Amber Benson:
Charlie_Angel - if you could play any other character on the show who would it be and why?
Amber - Actually I wanna be on Angel and I wanna be the host - the karaoke singing demon
Tony - I always wanted to be Cordelia!

we'll call it "Part One" for now, but the "Once More, With Feeling" review is up on my Buffy blog.
forgive any errors for now. i'll clean it up later.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Enterprise have helped propel UPN in the first six weeks of the season to the largest year-to-year ratings growth of any broadcast network, the network announced. UPN has seen its prime-time ratings grow in all key demographics, including a 19 percent hike among persons aged 12-34, 26 percent among adults 18-34 and 21 percent among adults 18-49.
Sarah Kuhn's review of this week's Angel, "Offspring."
"Hey, look at me! I'm dancing crazy!" i love Anya.
so, Mikey and i were watching last night, and Tara was singing a song that was sort of funny in that "Oh, but you are!" kind of ways, and Willow and Tara embrace and twirl together, and suddenly they're back in the bedroom, and...
Mikey and i both stared with slackjawed 'ewww!' "Are they..?" "Did she just.." anyone else come away from the scene thinking that, uh, Willow was 'kissing the kitty'? will that be one of the deleted scenes for future airings?

Dawn's in trouble? It must be Tuesday. heh.
"Bunnies aren't just cute, like everyone supposes.
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses.
and what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be bunnies!
...Or maybe midgets."

i'm going to be cutting out early today. i have many things to do before "Once More, With Feeling" airs tonight. let's all watch and we'll sing the songs together tomorrow.
before Musical Buffy tonight, FX still has the syndiBuffy double feature. tonight's episodes: "Dead Man's Party," initiating Joyce into the Sunnydale supernatural scene, and "Faith, Hope and Trick", the first appearance of the ultracool Mr. Trick.
tonight, folks, is the night. it's difficult to contain my excitement.

ah, the Tara love aria, available at the official Buffy musical site. can't download it though, dammit. Amber Benson does well.
downloading more clips of tonight's musical Buffy (less than 9 hours away!). it's gonna focking ruck! i love the dancers during the Tara love song.
ya know, i watch syndiBuffy, and i see Cordelia throwing herself at Angel, but he never pays much attention to her, and Xander tells her that there's no way she can come between Angel and Buffy.
all i have to say to that is that patience pays off. go Cordy!

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: "Becoming, part 2" my favorite conversation in ... uh... this episode "Have we met?" "You hit me with an ax one time."
and the first episode of the third season "Anne," which, if you think about it, makes you wonder how intentional is Buffy's failure at the whole job thing in "Life Serial" this season?
also tonight on Angel: "Offspring," featuring Gunn guest vocalling for a band singing to Angel the perennial classic, "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)"

i told my roommates that i wanted to have Buffy wallpaper in the apartment. they said no. surely, they'd let me have one little poster up.

my review of "All the Way" is up. yeah, so what if it's late.
i just had my annual performance review. the boss had many good things to say, and only one negative: i don't communicate enough. heh. in light of all the crap i spew here every day, it's funny.
the company has gifted me with a Shiny Pen-in-a-Box to commemorate my Employment Anniversary, and a hand signed Letter of Congratulations from the VP of Human Resources. they seem really happy with my performance, and encourage a long career at TVGuide. i, however, am a firm believer in the "Money Talks" Method of Employment. i'm waiting to hear how much my raise is.

Jason Bates' review of "The Andorian Incident," last week's Enterprise. by the time i reached the middle of the article, i was asking "does this guy even watch the show?" he asks questions that have been answered in the same episode!. he does crap like that every week.
They ought to have dozens of little smart "grenades" that fly themselves around corners and follow the enemy and go boom with a big blast of stun energy that knocks out the tentacle-headed opposition without punching a bunch of holes in some old Vulcan masonry.
they've just developed phase pistols, but they should have flying guided stun grenades? also (this may be a bit picky, or just insignificant, but...), there is a difference between a tentacle and an antenna.
C'mon, having antennae on your heads is so Marvin-the-Martian/Stan Lee it's not even funny. It's just bad camp.
other ST shows have had species descended from non-mammalian (and non-primate) lineages, and they have features of their repitilian, canid, feline, and ickthoid ancestors (and for god's sake, some are rocks! cf. the original seies "Devil in the Dark." or puddles of Quaker State 10W-30 [TNG "Skin of Evil"]! or gaseous entities! or electrical clouds!), and he complains of an insectoid species having antennae (or maybe they're gastropods. snails have antennae like the Andorians. have they been established in canon as insectoid?).
Spying on other societies that could be a threat to you is as logical as watching space for potentially large asteroids that could hit your planet.
is it logical for a race that doesn't lie to violate a treaty they made willingly, and to lie about doing it?
And letting Archer give away the location of the Vulcan listening post -- and thus end the protection to Vulcan created by that spying -- to the Andorians is a broach of every single diplomatic and military directive a starship captain presumably would be given before he sets out that I can only shake my head in disgust.
hmm.. the Vulcans, who Archer (and many other humans) believe held back humanity's progress, who withholds information from the humans, who look down on the humans as childlike and blah blah blah, who also have an enclave near Starfleet headquarters, are lying about spying on the Andorians, and he doesn't think Archer would believe them to be doing the same to the humans? he doesn't think Archer would be really pissed and vindicated in his mistrust? Mr. Bates needs to forget about all the Original Series crap and everything set in years after Kirk. Humans and Vulcans are barely friends, and some people on both sides wouldn't even go that far. They don't go skipping around the galaxy hand in hand preaching love for other species yet. there's a working relationship, but very little trust. and the hypocritical Vulcans are violating a treaty they signed! they deserve to have their listening post revealed. and diplomatically, it was a good move by Archer. he earned a boon, and possibly a willingness to trust, from the Andorians.
Later, the Vulcans and Andorians are all part of the Federation, so presumably they're pretty close together
do the words "neighboring system" mean nothing? why presume? it's stated clearly!
And yes, I am still completely and totally against that cheesy song... Anything would be better than that 80s reject trash.
it's been six weeks. it's been talked about to death. get over the friggin' theme song already.
threat of four, yes four Andorian guards armed with phasers and bad attitudes -- something Kirk, Picard, Sisko, or Janeway could've gotten past in five minutes.
suck it up, geek boy. this isn't TOS, TNG, DS9 or Voyager. besides, i'd like to see him escape from room guarded by four guys with guns.
if the guy doesn't want to review Enterprise (does he even want to watch it? "if I wasn't writing these reviews, I don't think it would hold my attention all that well"), he shouldn't be the one doing it. his disinterest shows.

so we've heard Anthony Head and James Marsters singing elsewhere. how about some Amber Benson singing "Toucha Toucha Touch Me"? makes you think there's something a little Freaky seething under Tara's surface.

so much chaos this weekend in celebrating the annual marker in the march toward death, it's good to be back to routine for no other reason than Buffy: the Musical stuff, like this EW spread that Max found. with everything going on the last few days, i'd let the musical ep fall from it's obsession-prime position as the foremost thought in my mind. once i opened up that link, i was stunned at all the Buffilicious feelings that flooded back to occupy my mind once again. Buffy is a neuropharmacological-addictive substance.

tonight on the syndiBuffy double feature: "Killed By Death". better than being lightly wounded by Death, i guess.
and "I Only Have Eyes For You." -- a really great ghost story, and even has a "Aww, poor Giles" scene.

with yesterday being Halloween, and because i'm taking the rest of the week off for my birthday, my review of "All The Way" won't be posted until Monday, mainly because i haven't written it yet (Halloween's a very busy day for me. no time to write it).
on the bright side, i'll should have a review of "Once More, With Feeling" posted by Wednesday morning instead of my usual Thursday afternoon since i'll probably be up all night next Tuesday watching it over and over again.

Sarah Kuhn's reviews of this week's Angel ("Billy") and Buffy ("All the Way").
today is my birthday, today is my birthday, today is my birthday! yay me!
being 27 isn't all that different than being 10: i play with toys. i watch cartoons. i read comic books. i like to play in the rain and ride my bike through puddles. i have a 10pm bedtime. i still ocassionally imagine myself as a supervillain out fighting superheroes and plotting to take over the world. my allowance isn't big enough. i don't clean my room. i sleep with a stuffed animal. i have a "b-b" (a special blanket). i have to get up every morning and go spend all day somewhere i don't want to be, but while there, i pass notes to others in the same situation and don't pay attention to the things i should be focusing on. i still have sleepovers with the other boys. places like Chucky Cheese's are the coolest place to have a birthday party, and roly-polies are still the coolest bugs.

i've begun thinning the herd. i've dropped Special Unit 2 and Roswell from my Required Weekly Viewing list. i just don't have the time, with the 13 hours of Buffy on every week, but, more than that, they just aren't holding my interest. Smallville still has a chance, though it may be on a Viewing hiatus for a couple of weeks.
i've also decided that i need somewhere to focus my burning fury, so i'm thinking of taking up Seventh Heaven viewing. man, that show pisses me off, and if i have an outlet for all of my pent up anger and frustration, i may become a nicer person.

Jean points out that there's a new 60 second teaser for "Once More, With Feeling" (the Buffy musical episode) up here (the same place for the two minute teaser). more ensemble, more Spike, and Tara! also, a dancing demon! i was hoping there was no dancing demon, that Anya's theory for the cause of the singing was the right one.

tonight, it's four hours of spooky syndiBuffy fun! "Halloween," "Teacher's Pet," "Dead Man's Party," and "Fear, Itself", beginning at 5pm CST.

just got back from the stupid company costume contest. none of the contestants knows what "Most Original or Creative" means. almost everyone who got up there had a store bought costume (Winnie the Pooh is original?). there were a few good ideas that were poorly executed, and then a couple of good, original and creative ideas. the winner of that catagory was a guy from the mailroom wearing what i thought at first to be a Christmas gift. he was "God's Gift to Women."
the partiotic catagory sucked. 4 contestants: Raggedy Ann holding an American Flag, a woman in army fatigues and face paint, a mediocre looking Statue of Liberty, and "Aunt Samantha" (female Uncle Sam, i.e., red, white & blue striped and starred clothing and hat) who played the national anthem on the violin. the judges picked Aunt Sam to win, as long as she played the national anthem again, so she did. people stood up and acted like they actually gave a f*ck. she sounded like a junior high school orchestra student, but everyone cheered for her like she was Yitzhak f*cking Perlman.
my idea for a costume: wear a very boring looking jacket and tie, and keep an inflatable woman in my cubicle, along with a plastic baby doll and a plush stuffed dog. every once in a while, reach over and punch the inflatowoman and scream "Where's my dinner, woman!" what am i? heterosexual.
feh. these people have ruined Halloween for me. no one remembers the true meaning of Halloween.

tonight is a three hour Buffy night!
first syndiBuffy: "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" -- alliteration is fun for the entire family.
second syndiBuffy: "Passion" -- a great episode, one that made me hate Angel for a looong time.
and the brand spankin' new UPN Buffy is "All The Way" -- considering this episode seems to be about Dawn, i don't think i care much for this title.

an email from Jean, about the two minute Buffy Musical Episode promo:
Something else that's interesting about WDWGFH is the juxtaposition when they're all lined up holding hands. Buffy's got Spike, Dawn and Giles in between her and the people who raised her, and Willow is the farthest away from Buffy. Also, when the song starts out there's a clear split in the stage blocking, with Spike & Buffy apart from the core group, and Anya and Dawn both off by themselves. I wonder if that's significant.
The hand holding positioning is interesting in light of Restless, though, especially if you theorize that Buffy playing in the sandbox was supposed to represent both herself and Dawn. So in that scene in Restless, you had Buffy, Giles, Spike & Dawn in one group on the playground, and the people who raised Buffy in the ice cream truck. Xander starts out torn between them, but then ends up in the ice cream truck.
some people watch television. others *watch* television. many of the things Jean has said about the promo have made me sit back and nod my head in awed contemplation.

why no new Slayer over the summer? (we've known this for a long time. why's TVGuide so slow in keeping up? maybe they laid off too many non-executive people)(my pH > 12).
and speaking of new Slayers, i didn't realize Bianca Lawson (Kendra) was in the Snoop Dogg movie Bones or in the had-no-desire-to-see Save the Last Dance.

"One time, I was at the grocery store, walking through the doors in a wistful attempt to recapture the magic, and I was attacked by some Girl Scouts. Apparently, they were trying to sell those damn cookies (which are Soylent Green, by the way. You heard it here, first), and I was scaring off the potential customers. Those Girl Scouts are very territorial, and they'll stab you in the neck if you don't watch it."
girl scouts are evil. even Wil Wheaton says so.

last night's Angel (maybe spoilery, yada yada blah blah): Misogynist Wesley was scarey. afterward, i had a scarey dream of him stalking me through halls of my old high school, which was much bigger than i remember. also, i guess he wouldn't be Misogynist Wesley if he chased me. he'd just be Axe-Wielding Wesley.
Weeping Wesley made me sad. poor guy.
Gunn rocks! he took it on the noggin twice for the team. he didn't get much screen time this episode though.
Fred's getting better. no more hanging out in her room for weeks at a time, which is good. there are only so many episodes you can get out of her in her room.
yay for Wes/Cordy tenderness moments! these two spent all that time in Sunnydale making googly eyes at each other. there should be something deeper (though platonic) between them. plus, i like Cordy being the one they all go to when they need advice.
yay for Cordy empowerment episode! yay for Lilah growing some of whatever it is women grow that makes them brave! yay for Cordelia/Lilah talk! yay for Lilah taking down the baddie and just walking away! yay! yay! yay!
i wish/hope that Billy isn't dead. i thought he was going to be more of a baddie this season (even though i reeeaaallly hate him. he did do that cool "slam the fists on the ground thing and make it ripple and glow" thing though).
next week: the return of everyone's favorite syph-ridden Whore vampire, Darla!
Weeping Wesley made me sad. poor guy.

Fred's getting better. no more hanging out in her room for weeks at a time, which is good. there are only so many episodes you can get out of her in her room.
yay for Wes/Cordy tenderness moments! these two spent all that time in Sunnydale making googly eyes at each other. there should be something deeper (though platonic) between them. plus, i like Cordy being the one they all go to when they need advice.
yay for Cordy empowerment episode! yay for Lilah growing some of whatever it is women grow that makes them brave! yay for Cordelia/Lilah talk! yay for Lilah taking down the baddie and just walking away! yay! yay! yay!
i wish/hope that Billy isn't dead. i thought he was going to be more of a baddie this season (even though i reeeaaallly hate him. he did do that cool "slam the fists on the ground thing and make it ripple and glow" thing though).
next week: the return of everyone's favorite syph-ridden Whore vampire, Darla!

tonight, the syndiBuffy double feature is: first -- "Innocence" -- Luke, who was dusted by Buffy in 'The Harvest' is reincarnated as a big smurf with a bad attitude, and to deal with him, Buffy brings in the big guns: Gargamel and Azrael!
followed by (Jeopardy! style) answer:"Phases." the question: What were the Xander and Oz thing for Willow?
on tonight's Angel: "Billy"

i've been thinking: if you've had the desire to buy something for me and send it to me (or just send large denominations of cash) but thought that sending something out of the blue would put you into Stalkerville, you can safely do so this week and next without anyone thinking you're a freak. my birthday is on Thursday.
i offer my thanks to you now for your gifts. Buffy memorabilia would be great, but cash is always welcomed and probably would save you on postage.

so i go to the FX website to cast my votes for the Buffy X-Ballot marathon on Thanksgiving Day (sorry, Grandma, i can't make it. there's a Buffy marathon on today), and they let you choose three episodes as your favorite. it goes up through the fifth season, which i didn't know (i thought FX would only have the first four seasons). it excludes the episodes "Hush," "Buffy vs. Dracula," "The Body," "The Weight of the World," and "The Gift." i don't know why. i hope it means they have something special planned for those eps, and not that FX won't be showing them.
ha! i got out of being Dead Guy in our group's Halloween decoration contest entry. instead, i get to be Guy Who Makes Cardboard Tombstones. my choices include:
•Dedicated Employee -- Worked Herself To Death
•Beloved Friend Count Chocula -- Death By Chocolate
•Rest In Pieces -- Andrew and Abby Borden followed by the Lizzie kiddie rhyme (Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty whacks... and so on).
•Bloody Mary -- followed by a recipe for a Bloody Mary

egad! a two minute promo for Buffy: The Musical can be found here. there are also the shorter teasers, plus some for other episodes of Buffy and Angel.
the two minute promo is great. watch it. i burst out laughing at Anya.
[bravo! to Jean for emailing the link, though i don't know why she doesn't blog it herself]
she also says (don't hold me to it. consider it rumor for now) that a posting over at MBTV says the episode will run 10 or 15 minutes long, be in widescreen format, and that a soundtrack release is planned.

my "Life Serial" review is up. finally (damned job keeps getting in the way).
bloody hell!!!!!!! is this friggin show ever going to make to the air?
Sci Fi Wire says "Fox will delay the series premiere of The Tick one week, to Nov. 8 from Nov. 1. The Tick, starring Patrick Warburton, will air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m."

tonight's syndiBuffy is "Bad Eggs", the Evil Easter Bunny episode.
TVGuide Online says "Crossing Over" host John Edward will attempt to communicate with victims of the Sept. 11 attacks during several November sweeps episodes, Broadcasting & Cable reports. Steve Rosenberg, president of Studios USA, which syndicates Crossing Over, says the shows "will be done tastefully... and won't be exploitative."
also, CBS News anchor Dan Rather is refusing to get tested for anthrax or take antibiotics — despite the fact that his assistant was infected with the disease and traces of the bacteria were found in his office. "We're not going to run scared and we're not going to work scared," he told The Associated Press.
is it me, or does it seem like something's happening inside Dan's head that we should be worried about?

ok, there's some talk about numbers over at the IGN Buffy boards, and i've been wondering the same thing they're asking. what's with all the characters wearing shirts with numbers prominently displayed on them? is it some sort of new fashion trend that's about (re)explode across the country? or are the numbers hidden clues about something? or are they total Cheeseman in nature and mean absolutely nothing?
my review of "Life Serial" will be delayed a day. a co-worker sent me one of those "If you're a TRUE AMERICAN, you wave the flag and KNOW that the Founding Fathers wanted a Christian nation" email things, which pissed me off, so I had to write a big, long denunciation of such unthinkingly false (and poorly written) religio-patriotic pieces of shit-talk. i'm not going to be very popular around here for a while. anyway, "Life Serial" review on Friday, i promise.
there's another positive point to the FX schedule change: Ally McBeal is being moved to much early and much later times. that means i don't have to see Calista Flockhart just before and after Buffy (Buffy was sandwhiched between two eps of Ally)(and Sarah Michelle Gellar could soooo kick Calista Flockhart's ass that it's not even funny, but Sarah should do it anyway, just to show she can).
FX has made a change to their schedule (several, actually, but only a couple concern us):
beginning Monday, Oct 29, the afternoon repeat of the previous evening's Buffy will no longer be shown. instead, two episodes of Buffy will be shown back-to-back (but you knew that part, because you've been watching syndiBuffy and saw the commercial, right?), but neither will be a repeat, i.e., Monday's first episode will be "Innocence", followed by "Phases."
Tuesday's episodes will be "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" and "Passion."
next Wednesday is Halloween (the holiday, not the episode, although...), and the Buffy-in-sequence thing goes out the window as one episode from each of the first four seasons is shown ("Halloween," "Teacher's Pet," "Dead Man's Party," and "Fear, Itself").
Thursday returns to the proper sequence with "Killed By Death" and "I Only Have Eyes For You."
Friday finishes up the week with "Go Fish" and "Becoming, part 1."
i'll miss the afternoon repeat. it was the one chance for me to catch an episode if something when wrong and i missed it the night before. but, this means we'll go through them much faster, and i'll get to see them all much sooner than before and Jean will get "Lover's Walk" sooner too (Nov. 9).

who knew Jack Tripper could be so menacing? "Ted" must have been a good episode. Mike walked through the room just as it came on, sat down for a few minutes, and ended up watching the entire episode with me. it's been close to a year since that's happened. he wasn't impressed by the teasers for the musical episode (though *i* nearly wet myself everytime one came on).

tonight on syndiBuffy: "Ted," which i'm a little anxious to see because Dawn made a reference to this ep in one of the season five episodes (i'm not telling which, 'cause then someone would say i didn't warn them and ruined tonight's syndiBuffy for them. wankers).
Dark Horizons reports that "there's rumour that much like the upcoming "The Scorpion King" spin-off from "The Mummy Returns", Universal is also considering doing a spin-off movie of "American Pie 2" surrounding the famous 'Band Camp' scene."
i didn't care for either American Pie movie, but if they want to give Alyson Hannigan a lead role in a movie, i'm all for it.

in case you ran to the kitchen or had to go potty every commercial during Buffy last night, Schmuck Bait has posted links to two of the Buffy the Musical Teasers (here and here). i'm looking for the two new teasers, one focused on SMG and the other with full cast and back up dancers and Spike! good god! Spike! that one three second portion gave me goose bumps!
i'm thinking that i should have a watch party for the musical episode and invite over everyone i know, but i live with two of them (what? i didn't tell you that i moved last weekend?) and i think Jean will want to stay home to watch. it wouldn't be much of a party without her :) everyone else i know i don't think i could stand to have over during Buffy. they'd talk all through it, or keep asking questions, and when i'm watching Buffy, i wear a big "Do Not Disturb" sign on my chest (and have a Big Knife nearby, in case i need it).

tonight is doubly Buffilious night! first, on tonight's syndiBuffy, "What's My Line, Part 2," featuring my third favorite Slayer (after Buffy and Nikki).
then, on UPN Buffy: "Life Serial". Mikey likes it!

"The best change [in the Angel series], however, may be the maturation of Buffy's former spoiled brat Cordelia, played with increasing depth and dexterity by Charisma Carpenter. With Buffy out of the picture, Cordelia may even serve as a romantic interest for her vampire boss — though if so, Greenwalt promises not to string out the story."--USAToday
yay! i LERV Cordy! Charisma deserves the adulation.

Everyone will be amazed by Sarah Michelle - the lady can sing!" announces costar James Marsters.
hooray for the coming musical episode!

i've been volunteered to participate in my workgroup's Halloween decoration thing for a stupid contest. i hate my job. these people can't get it through their thick heads that i don't like to participate in crap like this. and it doesn't matter that i tell them i don't want to be a part of it. they ignore me.
no sleep, no sleep. didn't feel well last night. anthrax kept me awake (i'm blaming every symptom i exhibit on anthrax, especially the feline dander related anthrax i'm experiencing).
even the great and powerful coffee gods can't help me right now.

tonight on syndiBuffy: "What's My Line, Part 1"
i'm gonna skip over the cocaine jokes that spring to mind. actually, i hadn't given much thought to that title before, but now, i suddenly see how appropriate it is for this episode. clever titler, and yay for Buffy epiphanies (Buffiphanies? say that word out loud. it's fun!).

heh. last post i said i wanted more J. August Richards stuff to link to. if i'd looked a little harder, i would have had something.
since today is Angel day, i'll throw out a couple more Angel-related links: Alexis Denisof interview (one i may have linked before. it felt familiar, but i couldn't find a previous link) and "The Art of Being Charisma Carpenter." they really need to do more with J. August Richards. i want to link more often to things about him.
tonight's Angel ep is "Fredless": Angel (David Boreanaz) goes into full detective mode when Fred's (Amy Acker) parents unexpectedly arrive in Los Angeles to bring Fred home, but their appearance inexplicably sends her into a tailspin and on the run.

the Charisma Carpenter fansite says "Charisma stars in an episode [of VH-1's Strange Frequency series] called "Don't Fear the Reaper," where she plays a goth singer obsessed with death -- that is, until the Grim Reaper shows up at one of her shows! The air date is listed as Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 10pm."
also from the CC fansite, here's Charisma with wings, and i didn't realize that CC's hair was so important to the WB (i couldn't decide which way i preferred).

Fray #4 is out (finally! after taking September off). it had a nice little twist at the end that was foreseeable, but not in one of those 'oh, that's soooo obvious' kind of ways. still liking the art, still liking the story, and still eagerly anticipating the next issue.
TVGuide online article : "The Bite Stuff" (har) about Angel.
and from (minor casting spoilers in link)"Insider": "Alas, other former favorites are less likely to drop in. Now that Buffy again has a pulse, a visit with the heartthrob who always made it race — Riley — is a no-brainer. However, sighs Noxon, "that's a big, big maybe. It depends on if Marc Blucas is available. He's turning into a big, fancy movie guy.

because 5 just weren't enough, Sly Stallone says something about "Rocky 6" and that Rocky may be going to Broadway. (audio clip). he also said a bunch of other stuff, but it's really hard listening to his voice, ya know?

hey, i'd watch. there are a few reasons i don't want Cordelia to get her own spin off series, but the biggest is: if Cordelia's on a separate series, then she and Angel can't get together and fall in love and have little fashionable vampire babies (hey, if Darla can have Angel's baby, why can't Cordy?).
the second biggerst reason i don't want Cordy to get her own show is that i already spend too much time in front of the television. i watch Angel, UPN Buffy, Roswell, Smallville, Enterprise, Special Unit 2, Mutant X, syndiBuffy five nights a week, and weekend syndiBuffy on the local WB affiliate. and think about what's coming up! X-Files (eeg. was that last night?), 24 and The Tick. plus, James Marsters is guest starring on Andromeda for an ep next month (i already like the show. i'm afraid to watch or i may become interested enough to be a regular viewer), Ab Fab is coming back, and QAF starts up again in January.
i think it's time i started doing some tv viewage trimming. still, even if i just watch Buffyverse, that's 8 hours of tv a week, almost twice what i watched last spring.
