Buffy season 2 dvd release is less than three weeks away!
[warning: the links in this post may be spoilery to those who don't even want to read any casting rumors for next season! don't even mouse over it or you'll see the name!]
i'm torn between hating her so much that i don't want to see her in anything, and knowing i'd be sooo happy and completely satisfied seeing Buffy stake her skanky, artificial corpse to the wall.
updated to include a link to a scene someone else would like to see. isn't the little plush monster cute?

suddenly very pleased with the casting of Bruce Banner (yeah, i didn't know who Eric Bana was until i looked him up. is this one of those things where i just wasn't paying attention and he's really famous?).

Everything that's going to happen
Posted by: Joss - May 22, 2002, 1:56 AM
As people who have been around for a while know, I always like to get on the "net" and reveal aboslutely everything that's going to happen next year. That way, you don't spend all summer stressing. Here's the important points:
1) Buffy will become a "vampire slayer". I can't really explain what that means yet, 'cause Doug hasn't explained it to me. But it seems to point towards ADVENTURE!
2) Format change: from now on, the first half hour will be about Buffy FIGURING OUT what the monster is, and the second half hour will be about Sam Waterston PROSECUTING the monster.
3) We're easing back on the goats. There've been complaints.
4) Because of the coincidental movie name issue, we will no longer refer to the kids as the "Scooby" Gang. They will be known as the "Scooby Doo, The Film, Coming This Christmas To Your Local DVD Store" gang. Or possibly the "Sharks".
5) The gay thing is so passe. We're over that. But honestly, that's just the way Clem ACTS. We're having a talk.
6) A lot of people were confused at the end when Spike wanted his fish order changed. SOLE, people. Jeez. We HAVE a vampire with a SOUL, you think we're doing that again?
7) Cardigans, cardigans, cardigans.

is this spoilery? i dunno. don't read on if you're worried. from Dark Horizons:
"Buffy (TV): Bleached blond English vamp James Marsters spoke with SFX magazine and was asked about there being further "special" episodes like 'Hush' or 'Once More, With Feeling'. Seems that as far as he knows, there won't yet be a follow-up musical episode, but Joss Whedon is in the middle of writing a new musical (about six songs in) which Marsters says is "Twice as Good". The big revelation though is that we may see an episode next season in which the cast are required to learn to talk backwards, thus allow the film to be reversed part way through the story - sounds like a blending of the dwarf from "Twin Peaks" and the award-winning 'Backwardz' episode of "Red Dwarf". "
btw, that "Twin Peaks" dwarf gave me nightmares, and i only saw one episode of the show.

i was very happy with last night's Buffy. yes, there was some cheese, but the episode turned out much better than i thought it would. plus, the whole thing was worth it just for Giles' entrance!

eehee! i'm all giddie about tonight's Buffy. i just looove the season finales for some reason!
we just thought that The X-files were over. Chris Carter is a clever little devil.
so Cordelia has been abducted by the military for it's alien program. wasn't that CSM sitting in that car behind Cordelia's? didn't Skip resemble Spender a bit? sometimes i get Gunn confused with AD Skinner.
so how about that Cordelia-as-Christ thing?
go Wesley! getting nookie from the Lilah! and way to snark!
poor, poor Groo. what's a Groo to do? (i know there's a Seussian rhyme just waiting, but i'm too lazy to try for it)

"Buffy is important in part because of the increasing moral complexity of its universe. The character Angel clearly contributed to the building of that complexity by being a vampire capable of good. However, since Angel is good because he possesses a soul, he still represents an essentialist definition of good. Spike owns no human soul, yet repeatedly does good; if he can be seen as capable of change, capable of good, capable of love, then he can represent an existentialist definition of good. The chip which prevents him from harming humans can be paralleled to psychiatric medications which allow sufferers a respite and the chance to work through their psychological issues. The subsequent change is thus not simply physiological.
The change may be indicated in part by the metaphor of light and dark in the series. Just as coming to know the night within herself may help to save Buffy, so too Spike may need to come into the light of day. In "After Life," just before she confesses to Spike (and only to Spike) that she thinks she has been in heaven, Buffy comments with surprise on his being out in the "daylight" yet, as he says, "not on fire? Sun's low enough; it's shady enough here..."
"Every Night I Save You": Buffy, Spike, Sex and Redemption by Rhonda V. Wilcox. certainly an interesting read, available with other essays here.

i haven't had a chance to ask, but what did everyone think of the series finales of Roswell and The X-Files?
to those who've sent email to me in the last seven days (and to the one who sent it two weeks ago), i'll get back to you soon. i was lazier than normal last week.
the Boyfriend rented the season three dvds of Sex and the City last week. i'd never watched the show before, and i spent a lot of my time yelling at the screen "dammit, just go talk with him about it!" it's not a bad show though i have no interest in seeing the first two seasons.
i do adore Kim Cattrall.
as payback for the three-evening Sarah-Jessica-Parker-athon, i rented Hair and bought My Fair Lady. i still have to shake my head and say 'Why, Eliza?" 'enry 'iggins is an ass'ole.
